Dear Friends of Pittville,

This is the third edition of our newsletter. Most of you will know most of what is in this eEnewsletter since I try to keep you posted as anything crops up. However, I have given some space to the Projects Survety I have mentioned before.  in the hope that a few more of you will send me your feedback.  I will keep posting items of interest on the website on the news page,
www.friendsofpittville.org./news.aspx.

Best regards. Ron Pattinson (Hon Secretary, Friends of Pittville)

June 2007

As most of you will be aware, the initial application for a Project Planning Grant was turned down by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) at the end of March. The reasons given were matters of detail and the inclusion of some items not normally covered by the HLF. However, the letter from HLF also stated encouragingly, “We consider that this project has the potential to be an excellent fit to the Parks for People Programme and appears to be a very popular local resource.” The letter also included some guidance from other recently approved projects and CBC has been invited to resubmit its application by the end of June. This will be done and we look forward to a successful bid this time.

The Friends would like to encourage the local community to play an active role in this bid for a grant and one way everyone can have a voice is to join the Friends group.

Local History and Guided walk

The first part of the potted history of the Pittville Estate is now published on the website at www.friendsofpittville.org/estate.aspx.  We are working on getting the second part edited as soon as possible.

In addition to the history, there is a guided 2 mile walk around the historical parts of Pittville and this can be found at www.friendsofpittville.org/walk.aspx. You can also download an illustrated version so you can print it and take it with you on a stroll around the area.

Projects Survey

From the last Committee meeting came a list of potential projects which may become relevant as and when the HLF bid is successful. This list is merely a suggestion and not to be taken as "policy". I have had some returns from you, the Friends membership, but I would be very grateful for as many more as you can provide me with to get the widest possible opinion on ways to enhance the Park experience.

You can download the Projects Form in three variations, Excel spreadsheet, Word doc or PDF file. They are all available from the website archive at www.friendsofpittville.org/archive.aspx under the heading Project Forms, strangely enough! Or, if you are not quite so computer literate, here is a copy of the form below. You can print out tis newsletter and fill it in longhand as per the instructions below.
