Friends of Pittville Christmas cards now available

Pittville Pump Rooms in the snow

We have two new images for our 2011 Christmas cards. These were voted the top two at our recent AGM where there were six to choose between. They depict the ever popular Pittville Pump Room and, for the first time, Pittville Gates, both in light snow. The cards are the same price as last year (£1 for up to four cards; £4.50 for five cards; £7.50 for ten cards) and any profit will go to the Pittville Gates Restoration Fund.

If you would like more information about the cards and how to order, please click here.

Self-guided walk and heritage boards in Pittville

An example of the type of heritage board we may buy

Following our successful participation in Heritage Open Days in September, we submitted an application to Cheltenham Borough Council for a grant under the ‘Promoting Cheltenham Fund. The aim of this fund is to support events, projects and initiatives that will stimulate economic and business growth in Cheltenham. We are very pleased to have been granted £2500 toward a self-guided walk linked to heritage information boards. We plan to begin this project early next year – if you would like to be involved, please contact secretary@friendsofpittville.org

Here are details of all the projects which were considered.

Annual General Meeting 2011

Our AGM on 5 October attracted a good audience for an inspirational talk about Pittville School by its Head, Richard Gilpin. There is a brief summary in the Minutes and a longer version.

Other highlights were an update on progress since last AGM on the Pittville Gates Restoration Project, our successful application for a Community Pride 2011 grant and our participation in Heritage Open Days. A shorter version of the Chairman's Report and report on Pittville Gates is also available.

Filming at Pittville Gates

Judie interviewed by Graham Gardner for GCC

The welcome 30th September sun (now disappeared) shone as Judie Hodsdon, Pittville Gates Restoration Project chair was interviewed by Graham Gardner on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council for a presentation on their "Community Offer Programme." This is a scheme in which the County Council provides funding toward the cost of local community projects, often match funding, which would not normally be included in their work schedule.
