We are a small but growing group of people, now over 300, who love Pittville, especially its park, squares and other green spaces. Most of our members are from this area, but our aim is to help protect, conserve and develop Pittville’s green spaces for everybody. Pittville Park is the best known of these spaces and many of those who use it are from other parts of Cheltenham. Indeed, some of its visitors are from out of town and come especially to see it.
To quote from the borough council’s website, "Opened in 1825, Pittville Park is the largest ornamental park in Cheltenham and features the magnificent pump room and lakes. This park is given a grade 2 listing under the English Heritage register of historic parks and gardens, with the pump rooms as a Grade I historic building."
It is this historic environment which we must protect and conserve. But we recognise that the world has changed a great deal since 1825 and support further development of the park to meet 21st century needs and expectations.
